CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY if you are a reader ....
Each year children around the country take time to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday in March. It is a moment for everyone to recognize how important reading is in our lives, both young and old. Books can impart knowledge or share the magic of an author’s imagination. We can share so much with others through the power of the written word.
Giving someone a book that expands their horizons with new knowledge/insight or even one providing a relaxing break from daily responsibilities is a gift that lasts and can be appreciated many times over. Sharing a book with a child provides an opportunity to snuggle and enjoy the pleasure of the written word together.... a priceless moment for both of you.
The Member Art Exhibit of the Waukesha Creative Arts League continues here in our gallery through March 13th. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to view the exhibit, don’t despair. The public is invited to attend a reception during this month’s Art Crawl on Saturday the 7th, from 4-10 PM. This event has two purposes: displaying the considerable talents of our local artists, while raising scholarship funds for seniors who attend Waukesha high schools and who want to continue their studies in the field of art.
We are pleased to have students from Catholic Memorial High School sponsoring a bake sale here during the Art Crawl on Saturday, March 7th. Their altruistic goal is to raise funds for a program designed to help the Invisible Children of Uganda who are kidnapped and forced to become soldiers fighting in the civil war that has been occurring for over twenty years in their native land. Many of our customers have already been contributing their spare change to a collection jar on our checkout counter. We appreciate your generosity and would like to invite you to purchase a homemade treat at CMH’s sale; you’ll satisfy your sweet tooth and support a worthy cause at the same time!
Get an early start to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by joining us on Friday, March 13th for Friday Night Fever. Our featured performers will be Theiss & O’Connor, the Irish trio that brings a unique combination of songs, stories and humor to Waukesha . These talented musicians have played at Milwaukee ’s Irish Fest as well as at a number of other notable venues. We are delighted that they will be joining us in such close proximity to St. Patrick’s Day.
